Daniel graduates cum laude

Daniel Fischer (right) received his bachelor of arts degree from Brandeis University in Waltham, Mass., on May 17, 2009. He majored in economics and in German language and literature and minored in business, graduating cum laude. He plans to reside in Waltham, where he and a friend intend to establish a telecommunications marketing business.

 

 

Mother and daughter graduate in the same year

Judi Fischer (below) received her master of library and information science degree from Dominican University in River Forest, Ill., on Jan. 12, 2008.

Her daughter, Rachel Fischer (left), received her bachelor of fine arts degree from Columbia College in Chicago on May 18, 2008. Rachel graduated with honors. Her senior art project (below left) was displayed in a Columbia College campus art gallery.

 

 

Culmination of 12 years of education

Daniel Avram Fischer graduated cum laude from Oak Park and River Forest High School in Oak Park, Illinois, on June 12, 2005. In the commencement program, he was listed as being on the school's honor roll for his high four-year cumulative grade point average (3.78 unweighted and 4.687 weighted on a 4.0 scale) and as an Illinois State Scholar, which recognizes Illinois high school students for outstanding academic achievement. In his first year at OPRF he competed on the freshman soccer team, and in his final three years, on the cross-country and track teams; he earned a scholar-athlete pin each year. For his proficiency in German language classes, he was inducted in the German Honor Society. For academic achievement, he was inducted in the Cum Laude Society, the school's version of the National Honor Society.

 Down Under the chuppah

On March 13, 2005, one of our Australian cousins, Alexander Samuel Lubansky, 25, married Rebecca Anne James, 27. These photos were provide by Alex's father, Harry Lubansky of Melbourne, Australia. The Lubanskys are members of the  Kagan/Cohen/Lifshitz family. Nuptials in Israel

Sharon Jolles, 28, one of our Israeli cousins from the Kagan/Cohen/Lifshitz family, married Sharon Laufer on Feb. 5, 2004, in Kibbutz Ramat-Hakovesh, Israel. That sentence is not a mistake. Bride Jolles and groom Laufer have the same first name! Here are three photos from the wedding, courtesy of her aunt Zohar Jolles.
